About Toronto Sunrise
Our club was founded in 1996 and has supported local and international causes both hands on and financially. In brief:
We support "Our Community" (Map)
- We founded and continue to support a childrens' reading circle literacy program for local children ages 5-10 currently held at Woodgreen East York Rotary Neighbourhood House;
- We provide supplies to a women's shelter in Toronto;
- We assist Moorelands Community Services to ensure that their facilities are ready for inner city kids to have fun at Moorelands Camp each summer;
- We distribute Christmas hampers to needy families in Toronto;
- We work with other Rotarians to build homes through Habitat for Humanity Toronto;
Regionally and Internationally:
- Assisting the worldwide effort to eradicate polio;
- We have also contributed to the effort to remove landmines;
Other projects we are working on:
- Providing safe drinking water and proper sanitation in developing countries.
